Deck Building

Minimum 60 card main deck - no maximum, but player must be able to shuffle deck appropriately.
Between 0 and 15 cards in Sideboard. You can sideboard as you like as long as after side boarding your main deck must still contain minimum 60 cards and your sideboard maximum 15 cards. You are thus not required to swap cards between your main deck and sideboard on a one-for-one basis.

Mana Burn

There is no mana burn.

Mulligan Rule

We use the "London Mulligan" rule.

This mulligan lets you draw a new hand of seven as a mulligan each time, and then on a keep, put back a number of cards on the bottom of your library equal to the number of mulligans taken

1, Tap: Choose a non-token permanent on the battlefield. If Chaos Orb is on the battlefield, flip Chaos Orb onto the battlefield from a height of at least one foot. If Chaos Orb turns over completely at least once during the flip, and touches the chosen permanent, destroy that permanent. Then destroy Chaos Orb.

Choose any number of non-overlapping creatures on the battlefield. Flip Falling Star from a height of at least one foot. If Falling Star turns over completely at least 360 degrees during the flip, it deals 3 damage to each chosen creature it lands on. Any creatures damaged by Falling Star that are not destroyed become tapped.

Exile Ring of Ma’rûf: The next time you would draw a card this turn, instead choose a card you own from exile or from your sideboard and put it into your hand.

Background and explanation

"Old School Magic" is a limited format focussing on the first two years after MTG was released:1993-1994. This is also the MTG format that captures the essence of MTG in the earliset days as Richard Garfield envisioned it.

The Danish Old School rules is an overall framework for the Danish Old School Community. The Community arranges several different online tournaments and larger physical events throughout the year. The Community is mainly organised in the Facebook Group: Mtg: Oldschool 93/94 Denmark

The framework describes how Danish Old School is understood in this Community. The largest ongoing monthly Danish online Tron Wars  tournament also follows this guideline.

The permanent legal sets consist of the seven original sets which are:

The original Core Set - 1st and 2nd print editions

- Alpha, Beta and Unlimited set.

These core set prints runs is essentially the exact same set and share the same set of 302 cards. Only exception is in the Alpha print run, where Protection Circle Black and Volcanic Island accidently where left out in the printing. In addtion one extra basic land of each type were added in Beta and UNL print run.

The original four expansion sets -  1st print edition

Also called "The Four Horsemen", which are the original 1st print expansion sets: Arabian Nights, Antiquities, Legends and The Dark.

The above seven original 1st print sets are also refered to as the "Swedish Legal Sets"

The six permanent reprint sets

In addition, there are six other sets which are principally re-print sets, where also several cards where discontinued and other cards rotated in. These are: 
- Revised set (3rd Edition)
- Chronicles
- 4th Edition
- Foreign Black Borders (FBB)
- Foreign White Borders (FWB)
- Summer Egde Edition.

These sets do not add additional cards to the seven original 1st print sets - but they are accepted as a permanent legal sets of the Dansih Old School legal card pool and these are always played within this Danish Old School Magic Community and events adhering to this framework.

The general reprint definition for Danish Old School in this group is still "same art type and Old frame" as Alpha, Beta, Unlimited, Revised, Arabian Nights, Antiquities, Legends and The Dark sets"

The six optional reprint sets

There are addtional other reprint sets that have cards in the set that meet this criteria. Tournament organizers can therefore also offer the opportunity to play with one or more of these reprint sets  - it is entirely up to the individual tournament organiser. For these reprint sets (with the same old frame and art print), there may be variations from tournament to tournament. These are :
- Collector’s Edition (CE)

- International Edition (IE)
- 5^th Edition (only some cards have same art)
- Time Spiral (only some cards have same art)

- 30^th Anniversary Set (only some cards have same art and frame)

- Marked re-backed cards (non-marked is seen as illegal counterfeit cards)

Of the six optional reprint sets listed, Collecters Edition and International Edition sets, which also were released in 1993, are by far the most played with. These two sets are normally allowed by organizers in online tournaments and physical events.
